Stats: ~115km | 1631m Climb
Grade: Intermediate
We begin our ride on the edge of Lake Como and head west crossing into Switzerland with a medium level climb made famous by Australia’s Cadel Evans in 2009, then down to join Lake Lugano. Riding by the lake’s southern shore we will re-enter Italy. Continuing around the lake, now traveling north, we arrive at beautiful Ponte Tresa, an excellent spot for a caffè macchiato or a cappuccino. Taking the road with the River Tresa on our right, it is a gentle ride down to Luino on the shores of Lake Maggiore. We will then start the main climb of the day through some beautiful little villages, crossing into Switzerland again, eventually to arrive back at Ponte Tresa. We then return the way we came, heading back to Cernobbio through Mendrisio and the border town of Chiasso.

★★★★★Pietro, I wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic ride! I tried to follow “The Border Run” route you describe on your website as best I could and it was tough and awesome. The bike was perfect, the weather was perfect, the place was perfect!

★★★★★Pietro, you put on an outstanding ride for our little group. The ability to join three guys that will never meet otherwise, putting us together for the ride was very cool. Being my first time to the area I was nervous. You put me at ease and we just rode. It was perfect.

★★★★★I am still speechless! That was one of the most amazing days - we both had such a fantastic time. We loved the very different views and conditions on the west vs east side of the lake. We also enjoyed the many stops for coffee, lunch and walks amongst the shops. I loved it so much I was ready to do another loop!
